What is it? It is making materials accessible to students according to their disabilities E-Text (Electronic text) Audio-readers (RFB&D) Tactile graphics Braille Large Print Why is it important? It ensures equal access to textbooks and course materials (I.e. syllabi, handouts, exams) for qualified students with print disabilities. State law (AB 422, 1999) requires it.

Steps to converting printed material

Scan text or document and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Edit and save as word document and burn onto a CD. Document is now in E-Text format. Students may now use any available reading tools on campus to read their E-Text.
